With a critical shortage of resources in the community to support autistic children, it puts parents under enormous pressure on finances, daily care and emotional support. Since the beginning of pandemic, it has been difficult to find a "lip-reading friendly" medical mask for kids. It has created a significant challenge to the kids in the deaf and hard-of hearing community as the medical masks can be an obstacle when it comes to verbal communications during lessons or speech therapy.

Therefore, CFCF has planned to produce the "Kid Medical Face Mask with an Anti-fog Clear Window", and invited SPRO Medical Products (HK) Co. Ltd. ("SPRO") as the manufacturing partner with their 20 years' experience of producing high-quality medical mask as well as the support of Dr. CHAN Miu Shan on the mask design and production details. The first Asia "Kid lip-reading friendly" medical mask is launched on Sept 2022.

The "Kid Medical Face Mask with an Anti-fog Clear Window" adopts a three-dimensional cutting design to allow more space inside the mask, avoiding contact between the transparent film and the lips. At the same time, the mask adheres well to the face so that the protective ability can be enhanced while keeping the transparent film from being deformed or displaced. The anti-fog coated film with high-quality meltblown non-woven fabrics allow the mask to achieve medical grade protection and filtration efficiency. With safety protection, the facial expressions, lip movements and the smiles of students can finally be seen clearly.

Hong Kong has over 150,000 Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing people, while only 3,900 communicate through sign language and most people rely on lip-reading or hearing aids. The hit of COVID-19 has caused a significant challenge to the Deaf & Hard-of Hearing community as the medical masks can be an obstacle when it comes to verbal communications, especially for the community relies heavily on lip-reading.

It is invented to solve the communication barriers of deaf & hard-to-hearing community, sign language interpreters and speech therapists.
